Transparent Data Reduction in Networked Telepresence and Teleaction Systems. Part II: Time-Delayed Communication
نویسندگان
چکیده
Two of the major challenges in networked haptic telepresence and teleaction systems are the time delay associated with the data transmission over the network and the limited communication resources. Sophisticated control methods are available for the stabilization in the presence of time delay. The reduction of haptic network traffic, however, is only poorly treated in the known literature. Transparent Data Reduction in Networked Telepresence and Teleaction Systems. Part I: Communication without Time Delay
Limited communication resources represent a major challenge in networked telepresence and teleaction systems. Video and audio compression schemes are well advanced employing models of human perception. In contrast to that haptic data reduction schemes are rather poorly treated in the known literature. This article introduces a novel approach to ∗Current position: JSPS-PostDoc at Fujita Lab, Tok...
متن کاملHuman Perception Oriented Control Aspects of Networked Telepresence and Teleaction Systems
Multimodal telepresence and teleaction systems enable a human operator to perform in remote environments through a telerobot and a communication network. From a control point of view, the networked force feedback control system is the key challenge. This paper discusses human perception oriented aspects for the analysis and synthesis of telepresence control architectures. Based on human percept...

متن کاملHuman Adapted Control of Networked Telepresence and Teleaction Systems
Multimodal telepresence and teleaction systems enable a human operator to perform in remote environments through a telerobot and a communication network. In addition to audio-visual information communication, from a control point of view, the stability of the networked force feedback control system is the key challenge. This paper discusses a human adapted deadband control approach for network ...
متن کاملInsights on Human Adapted Control of Networked Telepresence and Teleaction Systems
Multimodal telepresence and teleaction systems enable a human operator to perform in remote environments through a telerobot and a communication network. The focus of this article is on the networked haptic (force feedback) control system with the key challenges of stability and transparency. Transparency is achieved if the human cannot distinguish between direct and teleinteraction. Human perc...
